Quarterly reports on disability volunteering help secure funding, while annual reviews provide a clear picture of volunteer engagement and retention.

By leveraging data-driven insights, LYG successfully fosters a more inclusive environment. From the 2023 to 2024 seasons, the number of young leaders grew to 321, with a 14% increase in young leaders with a disability,

Flexible volunteer roles and mentoring programmes have driven growth and diversification of the GamesForce community. In 2024, LYG saw a 23% increase in unique volunteers, reflecting the success of its targeted recruitment and retention strategies.

Corporate partnerships have also contributed to this growth. With better organisation and tailored opportunities, corporate volunteer participation increased by 48% in 2024, providing additional support to deliver high-quality, well-resourced events.

Julie Ferrett, a wheelchair user and dedicated advocate for inclusion, has been volunteering with LYG for over 30 years. Her commitment was recognised at the 2024 Workforce Celebration Evening, where she received a Special Recognition Award.

Para-events are a key part of LYG's season, and volunteers receive bespoke inclusion training to ensure they create a welcoming and supportive environment for all participants. Many have shared how rewarding it is to be part of these events, highlighting the importance of accessibility in both sport and volunteering.
